The topic that I chose and that intrigues me the most is life after death. This has always fascinated me since I was little kid. There are so many questions that are unanswered about what happens when a person passes away. Dr. Melvin Morse from Seattle studied cases on young children who came close to death and they all reported having an out of body experience. The children stated that they flew away from their body. Accurate descriptions of their resuscitation were then given by the children to Dr. Morse. This shows that people who pass away might be stepping out into another realm. Many different cultures throughout the world today believe in an afterlife. However, their views on the afterlife differ from one another. For example, the ancient Egyptians believed that the only way a human being can go on into the afterlife is after the process of mummification takes place. Other cultures believe in reincarnation and that we may turn into animals, vegetables, or even minerals after we pass away. In these Eastern religions, karma plays a big role in reincarnation. Descartes believed that “the mind or the self was a necessarily existing, changeless thing.” “We can infer from this that the mind or the self will not be affected by bodily changes, including death. Therefore, such a mind would survive death.” One phenomenon that could possibly describe life after death would be ghosts. Ghosts are said to be “the apparition of a dead person.” Are ghosts an image of what happens to us after we pass away?

Ledio,
When I was nine years old and my little brother was 3 years old, a 6 year old kid in our neighborhood died in a tragic bicycle accident. This child name was Caleb, and he was my brother's best friend at the time. The morning after his death my little brother said that Caleb visited him in the night and to tell him goodbye. My brother and my mother believed that Caleb's soul visited him and I believed it to be a vivid dream. Since my brother was so young it made sense to me that he confused a dream with a spiritual connection to the deceased. Perhaps that is what happens to others aswell. Maybe they are not wrong for what they see or experience but there is a more logical explaination that they are not aware of?
